#beheretomorrow

The 2019 Minnesota Social Service Association Training Conference kicked off in Minneapolis on Wednesday, March 20th. I was fortunate to have the opportunity to attend the first day and listen to the keynote speaker, Kevin Hines.

Kevin Hines is a brain/mental health advocate, award-winning global speaker, best selling author and documentary filmmaker who reaches audiences with his story of an unlikely survival and his strong will to live. Two years after he was diagnosed with bipolar disorder, at the age of 19, he attempted to take hi life by jumping from the Golden Gate Bridge.  The fall would break his body, but not his spirit. Kevin has dedicated his life to saving lives by spreading the message of hope and sharing his art of living mentally well. Kevin’s story is a remarkable testament to the strength of the human spirit and a reminder for us to love the life we have.

The journey through his fight with bipolar disease took him and his family through peaks and valley of hope and despair. Kevin’s message was filled with humor, trauma, horror, life lessons but above all else – HOPE.  His message of hope and healing was evident as he delivered his story and message with passion and spirit.  His will to live and his determination to share the message of HOPE resonates with so many people, families, cultures and age groups. I urge you to take a few minutes to watch a few of his videos, read a blog post or check out his book. He is inspiring, informative and real…he is real.
